This was a rush commission to make a party dress for a friend - seeing as her birthday party was at a roller disco, with a group of musical theatre loving friends, it seemed appropriate to make a costume from Xanadu! Honestly I don't - yet - know the show well, I just poked around the official website for reference pictures.
I love this costume tho! It's so pretty and sparkly and girly... the base dress is bright pink lycra, draped on the stand, then white chiffon and white sparkly net draped over, pinned down and sewn. The "belt" swooshes are just interfaced and sewn down. The larger stars were pulled off a Primark belt, the smaller ones are deconstructed earrings from Claire's! Beads were bracelets from Claire's. Fun shopping for the most sparkly star-shaped stuff to be had.
There's a lot I'd do differently if I make another one, the ends of the belt are clumsy, the chiffon hemming is a little approximate in places... but for a dress made in less than a week from initial idea to delivery, I'm pretty happy.
That's pretty darn close, yep True, I'm experienced with the Chicago design, which is a tiny bit different from the Broadway, but still.

We just ask that you make an attempt to help support the growing Literature community.
