Pearl, the Observation Carriage from Starlight Express. Modelled by Ceri. (I'm not clever enough to link to her here, sorry!)
Slight redesign to the official Pearl costume - rather than an observation grille round her neck, which makes a clunky collar, I incorporated the concept of the feature - the many wide windows of an observation car - into the band across her bust. I'm not sure how well this feature translated - whether it is recognisably the same feature - but it is pretty and very shiny!
This costume's a bit cobbled together - I had planned to loan Ceri my existing Pearl costume. But then I looked at it, and it NEEDED re-making. So I made a new Leotard and leggings, and my sister made the new belt. In time I will make new skirt and accessories.
The old version of this costume was in peach and gold, the new version is all pink and silver, hence the mis-matching elements. However I think overall the elements use the same palatte of colours so it works. More or less.
Also, the wig was a last-minute replacement, cleverly I left the existing pink wig at home in the last-minute packing. This one was bought the day before, and was surprisingly good for the money and desperation. However the construction of the wig was meant for pigtails, and vertically wefted, so the hair had a tendancy to fall forwards and to the sides. Good colour for Pearl tho.
Overall, I am quite pleased with this costume, but there's plenty more work to do!
Ahhh, and what a gorgeous Pearl she makes too! ^-^ I've always admired your costuming skills, so it's no surprise that this is FABULOUS! (I think that's my word of the day...@_@...damn Purse. xD)
