Dinah the Dining Car from Starlight Express. Modelled by IsThisChaos - I fail and can't do the linky thing!
I tinkered with the design for Dinah, pulling elements from different productions together to create the most flattering look for my model. My design for this costume is in my gallery - I'm particularly pleased with how closely the end product reflected the design! I wanted to minimise her bust, so used the German costume design for the bodice which divides the bust horizontally. I also did not want to swamp her with the full German design skirt, so used the split skirt design from the later London Dinah costumes. This also made her legs seem longer, and added detail with the doilies tucked under the belt. These are a stylised representation of folded napkins. I also used a fleur-de-lys pattern instead of the typical Eidelweiss used on the German costume, as Dinah is one of four coaches, and I intend to use the fleur-de-lys across all four costumes. Then she got shinied... I recently acquired an applicator for rhinestones, so this costume is covered in them!
Very nice! I love Starlight Express. You've done a fantastic job with this costume, I recognised it instantly without having seen the show in nearly 20 years!

Daily Literature Deviations is a group that is dedicated to bringing literature to the forefront of the deviantArt community. We attempt to accomplish this by daily featuring Literature artists from around the community that deserve the recognition, but are not getting it.

We understand that each day you may not be able to check out each and every one of the pieces, everyone has their own things going on. We just ask that you make an attempt to help support the growing Literature community.
